Andrew Miller

Los Angeles, California

I am a full-time Visualization Artist for feature film who occasionally chips away at personal projects. I have done a handful of presentations for students about my work in animation, film and games. You can find my full film credits on IMDB (or use the link at the bottom of the page).

Currently, I am thinking about either setting up a secure archive or compilation books (sketches, notes, early artwork, etc.) to be able to show more detailed behind-the-scenes content for my personal projects. Not too sure how realistic a digital archive would be, due to AI theft and whatnot, but I am exploring options.

FAQ

What is a Visualization Artist?

For work, I do 3D animation and layout of characters, creatures, vehicles, etc., and - arguably, most importantly - cameras! We help studios design and refine sequences of shots based on their ever-changing actions and stories. We also get to add these CG elements into their plates of actors filmed usually against green screens (or blue screens!), so we help them visualize parts of the film as they work towards the end product.

Why "Story Developer" and not "Writer"?

I like to think of myself - regarding my stories - with a broader title, especially since I will visually develop characters and components from those worlds. Also, my projects are not limited to books; I explore 3D media.

Are you available to hire?

I am a full-time VFX artist and a full-time dad, so I barely even have time to devote to my own projects!

Do you use AI in your projects?

I have only dabbled in AI, in exploring what it can do for "reference curiosity." I tried plugging in some of my ideas and see how close I could get it to generate an idea or a scene from one of my worlds. I do not plan on using AI in my visual workflow other than for reference.

The only AI I use for writing is spellcheck!
